Snow sweet snow....

Ah, the winter is blessing us with so much snow! I have had a great time playing in it! My 6th trip to the mountains took me to Sundance with Ashley and Coventry. I pulled my camera out to take some pics and it was so cold that my camera would not work. So we had to resort to the cell phone pics.
The sun was shining and it was a beautiful day! Trip #7 took me to Sundance for work and I donned skis! The learn to ski program through Wasatch Adaptive Sports is so fun for the kids to be able to participate in. We take lessons and get the rentals and the lift ticket all at no cost through a scholarship. I can't post pics for confidentiality reasons but I took lots and my legs were so sore afterwards! Trip #8 was the very next day at Sundance back on my snowboard. Ashley and Coventry and I went before work. It was a Friday so it was a bit busy but really fun! My legs were still sore from the day before and I complained ALOT but we had a great time! After work that night, I got home and remembered that I had made plans to meet up with some friends to go bowling. While I was at work my friend Ally texted me to see if I wanted to go boarding on that Saturday. I had been in the middle of running a group and couldn't respond and then forgot about it. When she walked in to the bowling alley-- I remembered her text! So we made plans to go to Brighton the next morning. Our bowling took longer than I thought but we had a good time (however, my bowling was terrible). I got home after midnight and stayed up getting all of my riding stuff together. When Saturday morning came it was hard to get out of bed but so worth it! Trip #9 was a true gift of powder heaven! It was incredible! We spent quite a bit of our time dropping into the tree runs where the powder was knee deep! It was hard work carving up all that powder! I did complain just a little bit because my legs were still sore from Thursdays ski lesson (not to mention Monday and Friday snowboarding!)

Trip #10- We made plans to go and then the plans were off due to schedules, broken cars, and sickness. At the last minute Coventry called and we made plans to drop off her car at the shop early and then head up to Sundance. The fog was so thick we were tempted to just go home early.... We decided to stay but not go to the backside. After a couple of runs we stopped for Coventry to talk to the auto shop about her car. We sat at the top and looked at the thick fog!

Then some guys we knew from work passed us on the lift and asked us to meet them on the backside. We headed back there and found blue skies and sunshine! We were above the fog! The sun helped warm us up too! We took a run with our friends but they left us in the dust so we went our separate ways. We decided to try out a new run. It was Coventry's first ever black diamond run! Go Cov!
The powder was tracked out and very bumpy but we made it! Unfortunately, we made it to the stupid cat track that was bumpy, narrow, and had little jumps too close together on it. Coventry fell on her face! Ouch!! We ended up unstrapping and hiking back up the mountain in order to get back to the run we wanted. We even dropped in some trees and found some fresh powder. All my pics are of Cov because I obviously had my camera and she used hers. So we need to swap pics! The snow was really pretty sparkling in the sunshine. We were almost an hour late for work after getting stuck on that cat track!
Due to schedules, training, graduations, etc. I will not be able to go again until Friday January 25th when Jason comes to visit from Texas to go to Brighton with me!!!

The day a Moose came to visit

The other day, a Moose came to visit Heritage. I named him Mortimer. He somehow got into the outdoor horse arena. The horses were really spooked by the big fella that had moved in. Mortimer was sure happy to find some delicious hay to eat though!

They had to call animal control and the cops showed up too. Mortimer had quite the audience but kept to himself. When animal control got there, they had to put him to sleep so that he could be transported to a more suitable home.
This is one of the guys from animal control and his tranquilizer gun! It's for the best, Mortimer, I promise.
Once he was shot with a tranquilizer, Mortimer began to get very tired and laid down. Doesn't he look so cute! After he was relaxed, several cops and animal control people moved him onto a large orange tarp. They called for several guys to come and help carry Mortimer to the horse trailer ...

Some of the guys were really excited to be helping and more than willing to pitch in.

So Mortimer was transported up to the mountains and we wish him the very best of luck in life!

Thanks for coming to visit Mortimer!
